Every March since 1977 thousands of people converge on the beautiful, tiny seaside South West Victorian town of Port Fairy for the Port Fairy Folk Festival. Over the years the festival has grown in popularity and numbers have swelled. Having grown up in this area, and seen the festival evolve from it's humble days, it is always a treat to return home, see familiar faces and play music as one of the performers. Such is it's reputation performers come from around the world come to play at Port Fairy. This year was really special for me to pre launch the new CD 'Once in a While' at the Festival with my great musical friends, 'The Band of Brothers' featuring Lee Morgan, James Rust, Declan O'Neill and Jon Emry and special guests Marcia Howard, Richard Tankard, Kathy Mikklesen and Anthony O'Neill. Lasting memories! Thanks Port Fairy! What a great week of writing, performing and hanging out with close musicians/ friends! Thanks James Rust, Lee Morgan, Jon Emry & Chris Young for another memorable week! Now home to record the new songs!
Had a beautiful first gig back in Melbourne at The Albert Park Yacht Club with Rose Bygrave and Marcia Howard on Friday 11th October . It is such a musical pleasure to play and sing with two of Australia's finest singer/ songwriters and the former female vocalists of Goanna. It was great to be joined by Matiss Schubert on Mandolin and Fiddle and special Guest Matthew Fagan on guitar. thanks to Cliff Ellery, Trevor on sound and all who came along.
www.pearlmusic.com.au Recently in New York and my wife and I went around the corner to The Public Theatre where Sting was playing his first of ten intimate shows in New York. Tickets were $1500 each. They gave away 10 free tickets in a lottery and we were the first two drawn out!!!! He is a songwriting hero of mine. a great thrill to see him live in The Big Apple. A fantastic 5 days in Nashville, Tennessee from September 22 - 26 for the Americana Festival and Conference. We saw some amazing acts and had a great time meeting new people. What a great week!Great to meet and play with Bones Hillman (Midnight Oil's Bass Player) andn Time (Electric Guitar) and Steve (Drums) rehearsing on Bones' Back Verandah here in Nashville. Lovely guys and great players. looking forward to tomorrow's band gig at The Second Fiddle on Broadway.
